The Mojave Gourd Farm is located in the arid west Mojave desert.  Average annual rainfall is 2-3 inches per year.  Our climate is mild except during July and August when daytime temperatures often peak at 110 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Our climate is ideal for growing gourds.

The farm is owned and carefully operated by John and Janice Maloney in Newberry Springs, California.  We welcome visitors but please call in advance to make an appointment.

This year, we are growing between 10,000 and 12,000 hard-shelled gourds of all shapes and sizes.  30% of the gourd crop is being grown on trellises.  Gourds are brought in from the field in late November and finish drying on racks.  A MAJORITY OF THE GOURDS DRY MOLD AND BLEMISH FREE!  They are a gourd crafters dream.
